A Note About Placement Status
GRR evaluates kids over time. Some kids are retained for our own program, some may become available as breeding or preservation prospects, and others may be best suited for companion or non-breeding homes. A kid or goat being offered does not mean it lacks value. No breeder can keep every promising animal, and thoughtful placement allows good goats to contribute where they fit best.
- Breeding / Preservation Prospect - A goat that is currently being evaluated as a potential breeding / preservation prospect. Placement is intended for a home that values sound structure, Myotonic identity, calm temperament, and the Heritage Silky Fainting Goat direction.
- Select Placement - A goat that has been evaluated as part of GRR’s Heritage Silky Fainting Goat program. Because we cannot retain every promising animal, select placements may be considered for homes aligned with structure-first, preservation-minded breeding goals.
- Companion Placement - A goat that may be considered for a companion or pet-only home. GRR places companion goats thoughtfully and does not offer every kid as breeding stock.
- Non-Breeding Placement - A goat that is being offered as a non-breeding placement only. A non-breeding placement may be based on breeder evaluation, individual circumstances, or long-term welfare considerations, and does not reduce the value of the goat as a companion.
- Placement Pending - A goat that is currently pending placement. Status may be updated if plans change.

At Goats Rock Ranch, placing kids is not just about making a sale, it is about making the right match. We care deeply about where our goats go, how they will be managed, and what kind of future they are being placed into. Because of that, we are thoughtful about breeding placements and do not casually place breeding stock into situations where long-term goals, recordkeeping, selection standards, or responsible herd management are unclear. There is nothing wrong with loving goats as pets or keeping a small home herd, but breeding carries responsibility, and we believe it should be approached with purpose, knowledge, and care. Our goal is to protect the quality, welfare, and future of the goats we have worked hard to build, while helping each kid find the kind of home where it can truly thrive.
