At Goats Rock Ranch, our goats are raised with intention, evaluated honestly, and placed carefully. We do not believe in casual or impulse sales. Whether a goat is leaving as a pet, wether, companion, breeding doe, or herd sire prospect, placement matters to us.
Our herd is built around long-term breeding goals, sound management, and respect for the Heritage Silky Fainting Goat. Not every goat is right for every home, and not every inquiry will result in a sale. We reserve the right to place each goat where we believe it has the best chance to thrive.
Goats are herd animals and do not do well alone. They should not be purchased as a single pet to live by themselves, even if other species are present.
If you want a happy goat, be sure he or she has at least one appropriate goat companion.
Goats Rock Ranch will not knowingly place a goat into a home where it will live alone.
Prices are based on the individual animal and may reflect pedigree, registration status, structure, age, quality, performance, reproductive value, rarity, disposition, and overall suitability for breeding, showing, or companionship.
General starting prices:
Does start at $600+
Bucklings start at $600+
Wethers start at $250+
These are starting points only. Prices may vary depending on the individual goat and the type of placement.
We reserve the right to change prices at any time or remove a goat from availability at any time.
Not every registered goat is being sold as breeding-quality stock for our standards or long-term program direction.
Some goats are sold as:
breeding stock
companion animals
pet-quality registered goats
limited or selective placements
We reserve the right to represent each goat honestly according to how it fits our herd goals, HSFGR values, and intended use.
Not all buck kids will be sold intact. Bucks may be wethered unless we believe they are truly worthy of being offered as herd sire prospects.
We are selective about intact male placements and do not sell breeding bucks into casual, mixed-herd, or inappropriate situations.
A buck being intact does not automatically mean he will be sold as breeding stock.
Some goats may be disbudded, some horned, and some left natural by management choice. Horn status, registration status, and other notable traits will be represented as clearly and honestly as possible.
It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine whether a goat’s horn status, registration status, or physical traits fit their management style, goals, fencing, transport setup, or show plans.
To reserve a goat, a non-refundable deposit of one-half of the total purchase price is required.
A goat will be considered pending only after a deposit has been received. A goat is not considered sold until paid in full.
Deposits are non-refundable except in the event of illness, injury, or death of the goat while still in our care. In that case, the buyer may choose:
a replacement goat, if one is available, or
a refund if no suitable replacement is available
We do not hold goats without a deposit.
Unless paid in advance, the remaining balance is due at the time of pickup in cash or by another method agreed upon in advance.
No goat will leave our farm until full payment has been received.
The buyer is responsible for arranging transportation.
Please arrive with a crate, trailer, or other secure setup appropriate for the size, age, weather, and number of goats being transported. Goats must be able to stand comfortably, turn around, and lie down without being overcrowded.
If weather conditions require additional protection, that should be considered before arrival.
If we believe transportation is unsafe, unsuitable, or improperly prepared, we reserve the right to delay release until corrections are made.
We do not air ship.
At times, and only when possible, we may be willing to assist with transportation or make a road-trip delivery for an additional fee.
Goats are expected to be picked up on the agreed date unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
If a goat is not picked up on time, a boarding fee of $5 per goat, per day, will be added to the total due.
Any goat not picked up within 15 days of the agreed pickup date, without prior arrangement, may be considered abandoned and returned to the possession of Goats Rock Ranch. In that case, no refund of deposit or payments made will be issued.
Our goats are healthy to the best of our knowledge when they leave our farm.
However, once a goat leaves our care, we cannot control transport stress, environment, parasite exposure, nutrition, herd integration, fencing, weather, management, or the condition of companion animals already present in the buyer’s care.
For that reason, we cannot offer ongoing health guarantees, refunds, or replacements for illness, injury, stress-related decline, death, or management-related problems after a goat leaves our property.
Any health certificates, testing, veterinary paperwork, transport documents, or special requirements requested by the buyer are the buyer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Registration status will be stated clearly for each goat offered for sale.
Any transfer requirements, registry fees, or paperwork responsibilities will be communicated at the time of sale. Unless otherwise stated, buyers are responsible for completing any required transfer steps after purchase.
Goats Rock Ranch reserves the right to withhold or delay paperwork until the goat has been paid for in full.
Where applicable, our goats may be identified by tattoo, microchip, registration number, or other permanent identification methods.
Any update, transfer, or maintenance of identification records after sale is the responsibility of the buyer unless otherwise agreed.
While we appreciate referrals from other farms and are glad to return the favor, we do not conduct sales through goat brokers.
We prefer direct communication with the person who will actually be caring for the goat.
We reserve the right to:
refuse a sale at our discretion
cancel a sale if we believe the placement is not a good fit
remove a goat from availability at any time
change prices at any time
If we cancel a sale for our own reasons before pickup, any deposit paid will be refunded.
This does not apply to untimely pickup, failure to follow through, or buyer-caused issues already addressed elsewhere in this policy.
We also reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is hostile, aggressive, dishonest, disrespectful, or otherwise not a good fit for our goats.
Some goats are sold as companions. Some are sold as breeding stock. Some are retained because they best fit the future we are working toward. We take every placement seriously and want each goat that leaves here to go where it will be cared for properly, represented honestly, and appreciated for what it is.
If you are interested in a goat not currently listed for sale, you are welcome to ask. We are always happy to consider serious inquiries.
A deposit does not guarantee a goat will remain available as intact breeding stock unless that has been specifically agreed upon in writing.
No kid will leave before we feel it is physically ready to do so, regardless of age.
